Philips announced that it will bring a 49-inch curved Brilliance 492P8 to the United States in the fourth quarter of 2018 with the updated QHD. It is not the first 49-inch curved screen, Samsung came with the Samsung CHG90 last year, but the most important feature of the Philips screen is its high resolution (5120 x 1440) and its dimension ratio (32: 9).
The Brilliance 492P8 was announced at last summer’s IFA exhibition, which featured 3840 × 1080, similar to the Samsung CHG90, but it seems that Philips decided to raise the bet for the Brilliance 492P8 screen in its first appearance in the United States.
It seems that Philips has decided to focus on the Brilliance 492P8 in terms of productivity rather than gaming, as nothing has been said about AMD FreeSync or G-Sync support from Nvidia. The specifications of the display will be 1800R and up to 600 nits, as well as a 5000: 1 contrast ratio. The port will also support DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C, VGA, USB 3.0 and Ethernet.
Nothing related to the date of issue or price has been announced yet, but the screen is expected to come at a high price.
