Germany: We press Facebook and Google to display more diverse news

A German minister responsible for digital policy said she would push social media giants to make the information provided to users more diverse to avoid constant exposure to similar ideas.

Companies such as Facebook have come under pressure from regulators around the world recently, after evidence emerged that a certain set of news and views were being recycled on their platforms, which could affect voter behavior.

Dorothy Bear said she would start talks with Facebook and Google on how to arrange publications on social media platforms. She told the Die Welt newspaper in an interview published on Saturday that what users see on social networking platforms at present is often Has little to do with the truth, and explained that she wants people to see what they need to know, and what is happening at the moment.
